Role Description The Deli Clerk role is a part-time, on-site position located in Carol Stream, IL. In this role, the Deli Clerk prepares and serves deli foods, slices meats and cheeses, and assembles orders according to customer requests while following food safety guidelines. Responsibilities include maintaining product displays, stocking cases, rotating inventory, and ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of the deli area and equipment. The Deli Clerk engages with customers to answer questions, provide recommendations, and process transactions accurately. This position also involves working collaboratively with store team members, following company policies and procedures, and supporting overall customer satisfaction in the deli department.
Qualifications
- Strong customer-facing skills, including Customer Service and a focus on Customer Satisfaction.
- Hands-on experience or aptitude for Food Preparation and Food Service in a retail, deli, or restaurant setting.
- Professional communication skills, including courteous Phone Etiquette when handling customer inquiries.
- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation standards, including safe handling of deli meats, cheeses, and prepared foods.
- Basic math and cash-handling skills, with attention to accuracy and detail at the service counter.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move products, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Previous experience in grocery, deli, or food service is helpful but not required; training will be provided.
