Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies for various dental procedures.
- Assist dentists chairside during treatments such as restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) "Open Dental" while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Perform vital signs assessments and medical documentation to support accurate medical records and coding.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote optimal health outcomes.
- Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and knowledge of anatomy to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Experience in the following is optimal, but not required: (We are willing to train the right person)
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
- Hands-on experience with dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental terminology, infection control, and aseptic technique.
- Knowledge of EMR systems such as Open Dental is highly desirable.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry is preferred to effectively assist young patients.
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners confidently.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical coding, and documentation standards related to dental care.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members such as dental receptionists and other specialists like prosthodontists or endodontists. Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
