Broadcast & Media Systems Engineer
Overview:
Jetwave Wireless is seeking a Broadcast & Media Systems Engineer to join our growing engineering team.
This role is focused on the deployment, commissioning, support, and optimization of modern broadcast and media systems, with a strong emphasis on SMPTE ST 2110 workflows, IP networking, and production infrastructure.
The ideal candidate has experience working in broadcast facilities, production environments, systems integration, or media technology and enjoys both project-based engineering work and hands-on troubleshooting. You will support systems throughout their lifecycle—from commissioning and go-live through ongoing operational support.
We are open to both full-time candidates and experienced freelance engineers interested in supporting Jetwave on a project-by-project basis.
This position offers exposure to broadcast, sports, entertainment, corporate media, and professional AV environments.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Commission, test, and support SMPTE ST 2110 media systems and associated network infrastructure
- Configure and troubleshoot multicast networking, VLANs, QoS, and PTP timing systems
- Support broadcast control rooms, studios, production facilities, and live event environments
- Perform system validation, failover testing, and operational readiness testing
- Troubleshoot audio, video, networking, synchronization, and control system issues
- Provide onsite and remote support for deployed client systems
- Participate in system upgrades, technology refreshes, migrations, and facility build-outs
- Create and maintain technical documentation, signal flow drawings, and system records
- Work directly with clients, manufacturers, consultants, and integration partners
- Support recurring maintenance agreements and managed service clients
- Assist with design reviews, commissioning activities, and technical planning efforts
Required Experience
- 5 years of experience in broadcast engineering, systems integration, media technology, or professional AV
- Experience supporting or commissioning broadcast production systems
- Familiarity with SMPTE ST 2110 workflows and media networking concepts
- Understanding of multicast networking and Precision Time Protocol (PTP)
- Experience troubleshooting complex integrated technology systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and directly with customers
- Willingness to travel throughout the NYC metropolitan area
