Lead - Aircraft Cleaning

Position Title: Lead - Cabin Cleaning
Classification: Full Time – Hourly
Reports To: Cabin Supervisor

Location: Ft. Lauderdale International Airport THIS IS AN OVERNIGHT POSITION

Position Summary:
The Lead person is responsible for overseeing a team of Cabin Cleaners for servicing the needs of the individual airline and the associated requirements of their aircraft in accordance with the airline and the company’s policies and procedures for all aspects of a successful ground handling operation. The Lead Cabin Cleaner is also responsible for comprehensive cleaning of aircraft interiors while providing customers and passengers with prompt, friendly and courteous service.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Daily team management of cabin cleaners including knowing the location of the team during the specified shift and rotating assignments to ensure staff is crossed-trained
• Ensure timely completion of assigned duties and report any deviations of policies and procedures or work performance challenges (to include delay of an aircraft’s scheduled departure) to the station supervisor
• Review daily shift briefings with leadership; review daily flight activity, crew assignments, communicate new/old SOPs and reinforce awareness of safety procedures
• Keep a PDA on hand at all times and use proper radio etiquette; ensure all PDAs used are checked back in and accounted for at the end of the shift
• Report to station supervisors and/or trainers any team members that are not in compliance with company and airline procedures
• Provide oversight to ensure proper airline-specific procedures are being conducted by all team members for cabin cleaning, lav service and provisioning in a timely manner
• Notify station supervisors of any OJIs, spills, lost and found items, etc. as it occurs
• Monitor the team’s work performance during each aircraft servicing
• Ensure aircraft has been through its security search as applicable
• Participate in meetings with fellow leads, supervisors and station leadership
• Ensure employees follow the rules and regulations as established by the Employee Handbook
• Communicate with station supervisors for guidance on handling employee situations
• Always lead by example; other duties assigned by the station supervisors or members of management

• Strong working knowledge of airline operations
• Work schedule understanding
• Operational flow knowledge (hourly/daily activity)
• Ability to develop effective relationships at all levels
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English

Required Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 1-2 years of related experience cleaning houses, offices, and/or buildings

Additional Requirements:

• Possess a valid US driver’s license
• Must pass drug screen and a 10-year FAA background check (employment/criminal)
• Reliable method of transportation to arrive at the work location on-time
• Willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks and seek assistance from fellow team members as necessary
• Must be able to perform in a fast paced environment while maintaining a professional and effective approach to high stress situations
• Must be able to interact directly with customers, airline personnel and fellow team members to resolve problems and issues that may arise during the shift
• Learn the various types of aircraft in the airline’s fleet and their individual cleaning requirements

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative to those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

• Able to walk, sit and stand for extended period of time
• Able to reach and clean overhead items
• Safely ascend and descent stairs with and without carrying any weight
• Able to safely lift up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Bending, stooping, reaching overhead, extended repetitively
• Walk up/down jet bridge stairs at various angles
• Able to push and pull occasionally

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment as well as outdoors in an airport ramp environment. The employee may become exposed to the elements including but not limited to heat, rain, snow and loud noises. Hours will vary based on operational needs. Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends and holidays.
