Position Summary:
The Analyst HAZMAT is responsible for dangerous goods (DG)/hazardous materials (HAZMAT), process implementation, and shipping of DG/HAZMAT within the Technical Operations, Ground Operations and Airport departments. The Analyst works closely with Operational leadership and applicable crewmembers to ensure that handling, shipping, storage, and waste management are carried out in accordance with applicable JetBlue policies and procedures, International Air Transport Association (IATA) guidelines, CFR 49 and applicable local airport regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
Implement the accepted processes for the shipping and storage of DG/HAZMAT parts and materials within the Technical Operations department
Monitors the performance of Tech Ops stations that engage in the shipping and storage of DG/HAZMAT materials and provides guidance to shippers throughout the system
Make corrections to the Part Master in TRAX where hazardous materials are concerned
Ensure the Safety Data Sheets for all hazardous materials are up to date in both TRAX and the 3E online website
Look up hazmat status of new inventory and update Configuration Control
Ensure adherence to all safety and security regulations
Monitors Dangerous Goods and Chemical Spill Reports
Updates Monthly Report to the Senior Vice President
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
One (1) year of Warehouse, Shipping, or other Analyst experience
Successfully pass the bi-annual Hazmat Awareness Training and Hazmat Shipping Courses by JetBlue University
Ability to help gather information for reports to be presented to JetBlue leadership and various regulatory authorities.
Ability to review regulations and write / revise the JetBlue DG/HAZMAT policies and procedures
Working knowledge of both Air and Ground Transport Shipping with experience in both modes
Be able to read and understand the IATA and Titles 49, 29, and 40 of the CFR (Code of Federal Regulations)
Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge for all Material Cities as required
Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a record that meets JetBlue Airways’ insurance standards
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to use handheld two way radios, headsets and/or phone
Available for overnight travel (30%)
Must pass a pre-employment drug test
Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Two (2) years’ experience as a Warehouse, Parts handling person with DG/HAZMAT experience at an air carrier, or other Dangerous Goods or Hazardous Waste experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
Proficiency in our Maintenance & Engineering System (TRAX)
Able to communicate technical issues in an assertive and tactful manner
Excellent decision making and problem solving skills
Ability to multi task and work under pressure in a dynamic environment

Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
Able to maintain a professional appearance
When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Compensation:
The base pay range for this position is between $64,350.00 and $89,600.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
