Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Commercial/Business Development to lead commercial and growth initiatives focused on airport fuel infrastructure development, public-private partnerships (PPPs), and acquisition opportunities. The ideal candidate will bring deep existing relationships and grow new partnerships to help to shape market entry strategies, form new customer and partner relationships, and increase revenue by identifying and developing innovative commercial models.
This role is ideal for a high-impact leader with an entrepreneurial mindset, who thrives in ambiguity, takes initiative, has deep knowledge of commercial, regulatory, and financial frameworks in the aviation and/or midstream sectors, and excels at creating value in uncharted spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and evaluate greenfield and brownfield investment opportunities, including due diligence, valuation/financial modeling, risk analysis, negotiating and establishing commercial terms and agreements
- Perform and the company lead on M&A opportunities including the responsibility to source, evaluate, and lead negotiations for acquisitions and strategic partnerships
- Oversee pricing strategy, contract structuring, and terms to maximize profitability and asset utilization
- Build and maintain strong relationships with aviation authorities, airlines, energy suppliers, and key industry partners to gain insights and establish credibility
- Support market analysis, strategic planning, capital allocation activities, and competitive dynamics to optimize commercial performance
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and regulatory requirements
- Oversee the preparation of business cases and investment cases for executive and board approval
- Lead and develop a high-performing commercial team, fostering a culture of performance, and accountability
- Proven ability to represent the Company at industry functions, including participating and speaking on industry conference panels
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Engineering, or related field is preferred
- 10 years of progressive commercial experience in PPP/M&A roles, business development, with a focus in the aviation development and/or midstream industry, with at least 5 years in a senior team leadership capacity
- Proven track record of closing complex deals (including greenfield/brownfield), improving margins, and/or acquisitions
- Track record of building new revenue streams, markets, or go-to-market strategies — ideally in a startup or high-growth environment
- Deep understanding of airport commercial models, aviation regulatory environments, infrastructure investment, and/or midstream value chain
- Experience in deal structuring, financial modeling, contract negotiation, and stakeholder management
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex concepts and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to travel up to 75% for customer/industry engagements, deal pursuits, and site visits
- Thrives in a lean, fast-moving, environment
The salary range for this position in Colorado is $180,000-$230,000
