Maintenance Technician - 1st Shift

JOB SUMMARY

This position performs maintenance and repair work on assembly lines, corrugated machines (McKinley, Flexo, etc.), and warehouse equipment and fixtures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on corrugated machinery and support equipment.
• Oversee all repairs and troubleshooting of equipment failure
• Monitor to make certain that safety features on equipment are used properly
• Communicate with production staff to maintain the efficiency of operations
• Establish schedules/ perform preventive machine maintenance
• Recommend equipment upgrades, improvements, and/ or new purchases
• Provide reports for the Maintenance Manager and/or Plant Manager concerning any equipment-related issues that may interfere with plant operations
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and minimize downtime.
• Manage the Maintenance Storage Room inventories and purchasing activities to ensure the highest level possible of planning effectiveness
• Conduct a selective monthly inventory of parts and supplies, and compare with the computerized inventory
• Order parts and supplies and oversee barcode scanning of parts inventory
• Problem-solve and address operational troubleshooting questions as they arise
• Other maintenance or general labor duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training preferred.
• 3 years of industrial maintenance experience (corrugated/packaging background preferred).
• Proficiency with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
• PLC experience is a plus.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Technical certifications in electrical or mechanical fields preferred, but not required

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a warehouse/production environment. This role routinely works on labor and production equipment, such as tape measures and box cutters. This role will frequently involve performing maintenance work on production machines, including die cutters, flexo machines, jumbo flexo machines, slitters, and stitchers. This role will occasionally work on maintenance of the warehouse.

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 3:30 pm, and occasional weekends for machine preventative maintenance. Flexibility is required for coverage during breakdowns.
