What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Assistant position at Jester Plaza Veterinary Clinic?
Minimum Job Requirements:
· At least 6 months of pet care experience is preferred.
· Ability to be respectful, courteous, and professional to patients, clients, and staff.
· Desire to grow and expand your skills and knowledge.
· Must be available for weekends and holidays.
· Must possess reliable transport.
· Self-starter who is punctual with a focus on performing tasks assigned in an efficient and effective manner.
· Must be available at 6:00am.
Essential Functions:
Patient Care
· Bathe pets, prepare and retrieving pets that are being discharged.
· Bend, stoop, kneel, stand, and walk frequently all day
· Clean cages, runs, boarding area and/or hospital facilities, including exam rooms, treatment room, employee break room, bathrooms, and doctor’s office.
· Clean dishes and laundry.
· Document patient observations and notes in medical records.
· Feed hospitalized/boarded pets as needed.
· Lift at least 30 pounds.
· Proper restraint of dogs and cats.
· Provide clean bedding, water, and litter pans for pets.
· Provide compassionate care for boarding animals.
· Provide treatments to patients per doctor’s instructions.
· Recognize symptoms of pets that are ill or in distress.
· Transporting pets to various hospital areas.
· Willing to cross train into other clinic positions.
· Other duties assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour
