What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supported Employment Direct Support Professional position at JESSICA AND FRIENDS COMMUNITY?
Definition and Basic Function: The Supported Employment Direct Support Professional is responsible for providing hands-on training, job coaching and support for individuals with disabilities at their place of work to help them learn job tasks, responsibilities, workplace culture and to gain independence in employment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership & Oversight:
- Assist clients with job search, resume writing, cover letter creation, interview preparation.
- Meet with employers to understand their needs, explain the Supported Employment Program and negotiate appropriate accommodations to maintain ongoing positive working relationships between the client and employer.
- Collaborate with clients, employers, and their support systems to develop job support plans.
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation of client progress, outcomes and activities and day-to-day operations of supported employment programs.
- Assist clients access community based resources as needed.
- Assist with billing and administrative needs as assigned.
- Client Services:
- Ensure person-centered planning and goal setting for all program participants.
- Oversee job development, placement, coaching, and retention.
- Provide client satisfaction.
- Employer & Community Engagement:
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local employers, vocational training providers, and community resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build rapport with a diverse range of clients and professionals.
- Reporting & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with funding and accreditation standards.
- Monitor outcomes, prepare reports, and analyze data for continuous improvement.
- Work Environment
- Combination of office, remote, and community-based settings.
- Occasional travel to job sites, community partners, and training events.
- All other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Knowledge of disability services, employment law (ADA, SSA work incentives, etc.), and vocational support strategies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must submit to a criminal background check, a driver’s record check, and initial physical examination and substance screening.

Work Schedule: The Supported Employment Direct Support Professional is scheduled 40 hours per week. Hours will vary based on the needs and schedules of the clients that we support. Evening and weekend hours may be necessary.
