Jesse Stutts, Inc. (JSI) is a growing electrical construction contractor committed to building a strong, people-first organization to support our employees and long-term growth. JSI recently established its HR function and is continuing to build the systems, processes, and programs needed to support a growing workforce.
This role will partner with the HR Director. The HR Generalist will play a key hands-on role in executing and supporting core HR operations while continuing to build, refine, and scale HR programs that are still in their early stages. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a developing HR environment, is comfortable creating structure where it is still evolving, and wants meaningful ownership and growth as the function matures.
Role Overview
The HR Generalist will support and execute day-to-day HR operations with primary responsibility for:
- Talent acquisition
- Onboarding and new hire experience
- Training coordination
- Attendance and leave administration
- Benefits administration support
- HR systems implementation and administration
The HR Generalist will work closely with the HR Director, who retains ownership of HR strategy, compensation, performance management, employee relations, compliance, and policy governance.
KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Support
- Own full-cycle recruiting processes, including job postings, sourcing, screening, interview coordination, and our administration.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and guide hiring timelines.
- Maintain recruiting workflows, templates, and tools to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Track recruiting activity and provide regular reporting on hiring metrics.
- Support employer branding and candidate experience initiatives.
Onboarding & New Hire Experience
- Coordinate and administer onboarding processes to ensure a smooth and compliant new hire experience.
- Manage new hire paperwork, system access, and orientation logistics.
- Partner with managers to support early employee engagement and readiness.
- Continuously improve onboarding processes as the organization grows.
Training & Development Coordination
- Coordinate role-based, safety, and compliance-related training.
- Administer training platforms or LMS tools, including tracking and reporting.
- Support the rollout of manager and employee training resources.
- Partner with the HR Director on broader development initiatives.
Attendance & Leave Administration
- Administer timekeeping, attendance tracking, and time-off processes.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee leave requests, including PTO, FMLA, and other applicable leaves.
- Track leave usage and maintain accurate documentation.
- Escalate complex cases and policy interpretation questions to the HR Director as needed.
Benefits Administration Support
- Support day-to-day benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and employee inquiries.
- Coordinate annual open enrollment logistics and communications.
- Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate benefits data and issue resolution.
- Maintain benefits documentation and support employee education efforts.
- Escalate plan design, compliance, and complex benefits issues to the HR Director.
HR Systems & Process Enablement
Support implementation, administration, and optimization of HR systems, including:
- HRIS
- HR ticketing/help desk system
- Company Portal and HR Hub
- Assist with system configuration, testing, documentation, and training.
- Serve as a point of contact for HR operational workflows within HR systems.
- Support HR reporting and data accuracy.
HR Operations & Employee Support
- Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees and managers on HR processes and procedures.
- Support HR communications and policy rollouts.
- Maintain accurate HR records and documentation.
- Assist with audits, reporting requests, and operational needs.
As the HR function continues to grow, this role may evolve to support additional HR operational needs and initiatives aligned with the scope and level of the position.
What This Role Does Not Own
The following areas are led by the HR Director and supported by this role as needed:
- Compensation strategy and pay decisions
- Performance management design and calibration
- Employee relations investigations and disciplinary decisions
- Compliance interpretation and employment law strategy
- HR budget ownership and vendor strategy
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3 years of HR experience with emphasis on talent acquisition and HR operations.
- Experience supporting or improving HR processes and systems.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- High level of discretion and professionalism.
Preferred
- PHR certification.
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience supporting benefits administration and HR system implementations.
- Experience in a growing or evolving organization.
- Strong problem-solving and process improvement skills.
