Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welder/Fitter to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have experience in fabrication, welding, and assembly, with a strong understanding of blueprints and schematics. This role involves working on construction sites and in shop environments, utilizing various welding techniques and hand tools to produce high-quality metal components in compliance with industry standards. The Welder/Fitter will play a crucial part in fabricating, fitting, and assembling metal structures and equipment, ensuring safety, precision, and efficiency throughout all projects.
Duties
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine specifications for fabrication and assembly
- Perform MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), FCAW welding, and welding techniques on various metals including sheet metal
- Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices to ensure precise fitting of components
- Operate fabrication equipment such as press brake machines, plasma cutters, and pipe threading tools
- Fabricate metal parts for ductwork, piping systems, structural frameworks, and other assemblies according to project requirements
- Conduct rigging operations using cranes and rigging gear to position heavy components safely
- Read schematics and technical drawings accurately to guide fabrication and assembly processes
- Perform quality checks on finished work to ensure compliance with ASME codes & standards and client specifications
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols on construction sites or in shop settings
- Assist with mechanical assembly tasks as needed, including soldering and machining operations
Experience
- Proven experience in construction site environments or manufacturing facilities involving steel fabrication or structural welding
- Proficiency in MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), FCAW welding processes; experience with welding preferred
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics, and technical drawings for fabrication projects
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, forklift trucks, and other fabrication equipment
- Knowledge of ASME codes & standards related to welding and fabrication practices
- Mechanical knowledge including pipe threading, machining, soldering, and assembly techniques
- Experience working with ductwork or structural steel is a plus
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations required during fabrication processes
