Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, and those needing specialized care. This is a paid position offering meaningful, hands-on caregiving experience.
Duties
- Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing behavior, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and preferences while maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning tasks and adherence to health standards
- Engage residents or clients in social activities, community outings, and recreational programs to promote socialization and mental stimulation
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care including Alzheimer’s and memory care, and working with individuals with autism or disabilities is preferred
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks associated with patient transfer using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts
- Strong communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient care and teamwork
- Experience in medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and developing or following care plans is advantageous
- Valid background check clearance; commitment to maintaining confidentiality and privacy standards
