Job Title: Machine Operator – Excavation & Trenchless Operations

Job Overview:
Jersey Trenchless Sewer & Water is seeking an experienced Machine Operator to support excavation and trenchless sewer and water projects. This role requires hands-on experience with open trench work, a strong understanding of underground utilities, and the ability to operate various types of heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday 6:45 am- until job is complete
Not often but sometimes required overnight shift/weekend work if companies can only be serviced during after hours (rare but does happen). This will replace the 6am shift and come in later on during the job time on that day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators (Kubota, backhoes, mini-excavators, etc.) for trenching and excavation work
- Perform open trench digging for sewer, water, and drainage installations
- Safely expose and work around underground utilities (gas, electric, water, sewer, telecom)
- Follow all OSHA safety standards and company safety protocols at all times
- Assist with trenchless operations including pipe bursting and lining support as needed
- Read and interpret utility mark-outs (811 tickets) and job site plans
- Maintain equipment and perform daily inspections to ensure proper operation
- Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and site personnel
- Ensure job sites are kept clean, organized, and safe
Qualifications:
- Proven experience operating excavation equipment (Kubota, backhoe, excavator, etc.)
- Strong understanding of underground utility systems and safe digging practices
- Experience with sewer, water, and drainage projects preferred
- Knowledge of trenching, shoring, and excavation safety requirements
- Ability to read utility mark-outs and basic site plans
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in trenchless sewer methods (pipe bursting, CIPP lining)
- OSHA certifications (10 or 30)
- Experience working in residential and commercial settings
