ABOUT JERSEY PRIME STEAKHOUSE
Jersey Prime Steakhouse is a new, Italian-inspired, high-end steakhouse opening in Flemington, NJ. The kitchen is built around prime cuts, classic steakhouse discipline, Italian technique, and uncompromising standards.
We are assembling a focused opening brigade and are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to help set standards, enforce execution, and lead service from day one.
THE ROLE
The Sous Chef works directly with the Executive Chef to lead daily back-of-house operations. This is a hands-on leadership position deeply involved in service, training, systems, and execution. The Sous Chef plays a key role in establishing the culture and standards of the kitchen.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead BOH operations during service with authority and composure
- Assist in opening and launching a new steakhouse kitchen
- Train, supervise, and hold cooks and porters to clear standards
- Work stations as needed and drive service execution
- Enforce consistency in seasoning, temperature, and plating
- Maintain strict food safety, sanitation, and DOH compliance
- Assist with ordering, receiving, inventory, and cost control
- Weigh and verify all protein deliveries and resolve discrepancies
- Complete detailed closing reports for the Executive Chef
- Communicate clearly with FOH leadership
- Execute Italian-inspired steakhouse menus, specials, and events
REQUIREMENTS
- Previous Sous Chef experience is required
- Steakhouse or Italian experience strongly preferred
- Strong leadership presence on the line
- High standards for cleanliness, organization, and execution
- Ability to lead calmly under pressure
SCHEDULE
- Full-time
- Nights, weekends, and holidays required
COMPENSATION
- $60,000–$70,000 annually, based on experience
