Position: School Bus Driver - Full-Time Flex

School Year: 2025-26

Job Summary

The Full-Time Flex School Bus Driver must be available to work a full-time schedule (174 days), which will include at
least two runs (morning and afternoon) and potentially midday. If the selected applicant drives more than two runs in a
day they will be paid according to the Bus Drivers Salary Chart. In addition to taking students to and from school, the
selected candidate will have the opportunity to drive extracurricular routes. The Full-Time Flex School Bus Driver is
responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of students on various routes, to and from school, and for
school-related activities. This position requires the ability to quickly and effectively adapt to new routes, student groups ,
and schedules on a daily basis.The driver is also responsible for pre and post-route inspections to identify mechanical,
safety, and cleanliness issues, ensuring all passengers have exited the vehicle and it is ready for the next route. Bus
drivers will perform other duties as assigned. The bus driver reports to the Director of Transportation.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands and fingers to
handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.The employee must frequently squat, stoop or kneel,
reach above the head and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp the steering wheel
and climbs steps to reach the driver's seat. The employee will frequently sit, bend or twist at the neck and trunk while
performing the duties of this job. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50.

Minimum Qualifications

Some of the qualifications include: High School Diploma or general education degree (GED), Be 21 years old, Have a
valid drivers license, Have or able to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL), pass an Illinois written school bus
driver permit test, pass a behind-the-wheel exam, and pass a physical examination, including drug and tuberculosis
test.

Salary Range

This position will be paid a full time rate of $27,532.64 and include partially paid health, dental, and vision insurance
and IMRF.
