Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Case Coordinator

Pay Range: $41,000.00 to $44,000.00/yr
COMPENSATION: Public Sector benefits, including enrollment in the NJ State Health Benefits Program and Pension System; paid holidays, paid vacation/personal leave, and sick leave.
Definition:
Under the direct supervision of the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program Supervisor, and the indirect supervision of the Director of Rental Assistance Program, performs necessary work to assist in the administration of social service programs under the Family Self-Sufficiency Program for Housing Choice Voucher Participants and Public Housing Residents.
All activities must support the Jersey City Housing Authority (JCHA) mission, strategic goals, and ONE-JCHA values.
Essential Responsibilities
Ø Assists in recruiting and selecting participants for the FSS Program Enrollment
Ø Conducts initial interviews to create an individual training service plan
Ø Case management; identifies obstacles to self-sufficiency; conducts overall personal needs assessment of the participating family, and develops individual Training and Services Plans for all participating FSS household members.
Ø Maintains a working relationship with, PHA managers, local service providers and refers program participants to the appropriate program.
Ø Builds and maintains a supportive rapport with contract participants; provides guidance and support.
Ø Maintains accurate and updated participant reports, files and data on referral and outcomes; drafts related correspondence and reports.
Ø Travels to Public Housing sites to meet with residents (on site office)
Ø Attend to FSS related events in community during office hours, after hours or weekends / Flex time schedule.
Ø Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Professional experience in social work, case management, counseling or related field; and a combination of training and /or experience is required.
Bilingual in Spanish or Arabic in addition to English (preferred but not required)
Licenses/Certifications: Not required.

Physical Demands
Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and using hands for handling or feeling objects.
Ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds regularly; occasionally up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Standard office environment with a moderate noise level.
