Join our team as a Neurodiversity-Affirming Behavior Technician (Summer Support) and become a meaningful part of creating engaging, supportive summer experiences for a neurodivergent child across home, community, and camp settings. Jersey Behavior Consulting LLC is seeking compassionate staff to provide individualized, child-led support throughout the summer.

In this temporary, part-time position, you will foster autonomy, emotional safety, self-advocacy, and meaningful participation using evidence-based, developmentally appropriate, and neurodiversity-affirming practices. Support will take place in the family’s home, throughout the local community, and during short-term summer camp programs in Burlington County. Camp programs may include art, theater, and other creative enrichment activities.

Staff will be employed by Jersey Behavior Consulting LLC and supervised by a BCBA. Daily communication with the BCBA and the child’s parents is required. During camp-based support, staff will work alongside camp staff but will not act as camp counselors.

ABA graduate students may be eligible to count this experience toward fieldwork hours under appropriate supervision.

Schedule:
Summer position with flexible scheduling
Hours and camp schedules will vary depending on the child’s activities and enrollment in community programs and camps

Settings & Activities:
You may support the child in activities such as:

  • Creative arts and theater camps
  • Community outings and recreational activities
  • Play-based learning and social opportunities
  • Home-based activities and routines
  • Arts, crafts, movement, imaginative play, and creative expression
  • Trips to parks, libraries, shops, or other community locations

Duties:

  • Provide individualized support to the child across home, community, and camp settings while honoring their values, preferences, and autonomy
  • Collaborate with caregivers, camp staff, and the supervising BCBA to implement strengths-based, supportive strategies
  • Foster emotional regulation, flexible thinking, social-emotional development, and engagement through child-led and relationship-based approaches
  • Support participation in camp and community activities in ways that prioritize safety, dignity, and authentic inclusion
  • Communicate regularly with the supervising BCBA and caregivers to share observations and problem-solve collaboratively
  • Collect respectful, meaningful data and observations related to goals and progress
  • Document session notes in SimplePractice
  • Attend supervision meetings and ongoing training with a BCBA
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards in all settings
  • Participate in ongoing learning related to neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed care

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Eligible to obtain or maintain RBT certification per BACB standards
  • Willing to complete background checks as required by camps or community programs
  • Prior experience working with children or adolescents in educational, clinical, recreational, or camp settings is highly preferred
  • Experience supporting autistic individuals or individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
  • Familiarity with applied behavior analysis (ABA), child development, special education, or related helping professions
  • Understanding of data collection and progress monitoring
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Comfortable supporting clients in community settings and accompanying them to activities and outings
  • Familiarity with neurodiversity-affirming practices, low-demand approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, child-led support, or relationship-based approaches preferred
  • Commitment to creating a positive, affirming, and supportive experience for the child and their family

This role is ideal for education majors, psychology students, OT/Speech students, ABA graduate students seeking fieldwork experience, theater or creative arts education students, or individuals pursuing careers supporting neurodivergent children and adolescents.

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
