Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for an Accounts Payable Specialist located in Raleigh, NC. The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for managing and processing Accounts Payables, maintaining financial records, preparing journal entries, and conducting regular financial analyses. The role also involves ensuring the accuracy of accounting data, processing vendor payments, and providing financial support to team members as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process and code incoming Accounts Payable invoices accurately to the correct general ledger accounts
• Ensure timely and accurate payment of vendor invoices
• Serve as a primary or secondary point of contact for vendor inquiries and relationships
• Promote consistent and accurate expense coding across internal stakeholders
• Research and resolve discrepancies or issues related to AP transactions
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to accounts payable
• Prepare and post journal entries to appropriate general ledger accounts as required
• Create and maintain AP process documentation to support team consistency and efficiency
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy and workflow
• Provide ad hoc analysis and support for broader accounting needs as requested

Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and Teams
• Exposure to an ERP system is a plus; familiarity with Sage Intacct is a bonus but not required

Key Working Relationships:

You will work closely with a small, collaborative finance team – including the CFO, Finance Manager, fellow AP staff, and an AR colleague. You will also work with store managers at our physical stores to resolve issues or communicate changes. Externally, you'll build and maintain relationships with our art and product vendors, as well as technology system partners.

Growth Potential:

This role is designed as an entry point into a growing finance function. As you build familiarity with our systems and processes, including an upcoming transition to Sage Intacct and AI-assisted AP tooling, there will be opportunities to take on greater ownership of AP operations, contribute to process design, and grow within the accounting team over time.
