Jerry Rose Floral and Event Design is a third-generation, design-driven floral and event company known for its sophisticated, detail-driven approach to design and curated event experiences. Our specialty retail shop in Maplewood, NJ, serves an established clientele with high expectations for quality, artistry, and service.
We are seeking a full-time Manager of Floral Operations to oversee our floral studio and retail shop. This leadership role requires hands-on design skills and operational oversight. You will be responsible for leading the team, managing inventory and floral budgets, creating seasonal installations, and ensuring the retail store runs smoothly and profitably.
What You'll Do
- Design high-end floral arrangements, container gardens, and custom plantings that reflect the Jerry Rose aesthetic.
- Manage day-to-day retail operations, ensuring excellent customer service and a seamless client experience.
- Source and purchase all fresh flowers, plants, and materials—balancing quality with cost and availability.
- Build and maintain vendor relationships and seasonal buying plans.
- Lead, schedule, and mentor in-house floral staff and freelance support for events.
- Work closely with the event team to contribute to larger installations and special projects.
- Oversee merchandising and seasonal refreshes of displays and store layout.
- Take and fulfill client orders, maintaining strong relationships with new and repeat customers.
- Track floral budgets, manage inventory levels, and maintain profitability.
- Support in-home and on-site installations during peak seasons and event setups.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in floral design, with a strong background in high-end aesthetics.
- Prior experience managing a floral studio or retail operation.
- Extensive knowledge of flowers and plants, from seasonal varieties to exotics.
- Proven experience working with floral vendors—sourcing, negotiating, and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
- Confident in budgeting, inventory management, and buying to margin.
- Creative merchandising and display skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and POS systems.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and peak event periods.
- Calm under pressure and energized by fast-paced, client-facing work.
