Purpose of Your Job Position
The primary purpose of your job position is to drive residents to off-site appointments in a safe efficient manner. The Van Driver works under the supervision of the Building Services Director & Assistant.
Delegation of Authority
As Van Driver are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary to carry out your assigned duties.

Van Driver Functions |
|
|
Receive and follow schedules/instructions from the Receptionist and as outlined in our established policies and procedures. |

Transport facility residents for scheduled appointments. |

Report any accidents or unusual incidents. |

Check appointment schedule each day for next days appointment schedule. |

|
When transferring residents in or out of the van, ensure that the vehicle is in park, the ignition is off, the keys are removed from the ignition and the emergency break is on. |

Ensure that all passengers, inclusive of self, are secured with safety belts before van is started. |

May be required to remain with residents at scheduled appointment. |

Ensure mechanical maintenance checks of van daily to include: Lift function Gas level is kept above 2 full Oil is checked every other fill up and is reported to Maintenance Supervisor Report any mechanical problems to the Maintenance Supervisor |

Safety and Sanitation |

Follow all established safety procedures and precautions when performing service. |

Report all incidents/accidents, no mater how minor, to your supervisor immediately. (note: Such occurrences must be reported on the shift in which they occur.) |

Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc., to your supervisor immediately. |

Keep your work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times. |

Assure that established Infection Control & Universal Precautions practices are maintained when performing maintenance procedures. |

Follow established fire safety polices and procedures. |

Use protective clothing/devices when performing tasks that involve the handling of infectious waste and/or blood/body fluids. |
