Job Description
Jeremy's Automotive & Performance is looking for an experienced and dependable Heavy-Duty Automotive & Diesel Mechanic to join our team!
We are a family-owned and operated business that has proudly served the Richmond community for over 25 years. We work on a wide variety of vehicles, from everyday cars and trucks to commercial fleets and heavy-duty equipment. We are looking for a skilled mechanic who takes pride in their work, has strong diagnostic abilities, and can handle everything from routine maintenance to major mechanical repairs.

Job Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy-duty trucks, diesel vehicles, and commercial fleet vehicles.
- Perform engine diagnostics, repairs, and rebuilds on gas and diesel engines.
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair brake systems, steering, suspension, and drivetrain components.
- Perform transmission, differential, and driveline repairs.
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems, wiring, sensors, and other electronic components.
- Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, fluid services, filter replacements, and inspections.
- Identify mechanical problems using diagnostic equipment and hands-on troubleshooting.
- Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.
- Perform DOT inspections and address necessary repairs when qualified.
- Maintain accurate repair records and communicate findings with service advisors and management.
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Work on a variety of vehicles, including passenger vehicles, medium-duty trucks, heavy-duty trucks, and commercial equipment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous professional experience in heavy-duty truck repair, diesel mechanics, or automotive repair.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, gas engines, and heavy-duty vehicle systems.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Ability to use diagnostic scanners, specialty tools, and repair equipment.
- Experience with brakes, suspension, steering, transmissions, and drivetrain systems.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently while maintaining quality repairs.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and willing to work as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must have the physical ability to lift heavy components, stand for extended periods, and work in a shop environment.
- Must have personal tools appropriate for the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- State of Michigan mechanic certifications.
- ASE certifications.
- CDL (Commercial Driver's License).
- Experience working with commercial fleets, semitrucks, and heavy-duty diesel equipment.
- Experience with advanced diesel diagnostics and aftertreatment systems (DPF, DEF, EGR).
- Experience performing DOT inspections.
