What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Measure Technician position at Jensen Lee Construction?
About the Role
Jensen Lee Construction is looking for a high-precision Field Measure Technician to bridge the gap between the job site and our fabrication shop. This isn’t just about pulling a tape measure; you will be the "source of truth" for our projects, capturing complex site data and translating it into clean, accurate CAD drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Precision Field Measurements: Conduct detailed site surveys of decks and stairs using laser levels, digital protractors, and tape measures.
- Stair & Slope Analysis: Calculate rise/run, hypotenuse, and exact pitch degrees for custom railing and stair systems.
- CAD Drafting: Translate field sketches and data into accurate "As-Built" CAD drawings (DWG/PDF) for our internal design and fabrication teams.
- Technical Documentation: Identify mounting conditions (Fascia vs. Top Mount) and document critical edge details like drip edges and framing specifics.
- Digital Workflow: Clean up field data in Bluebeam and manage project files via OneDrive to ensure the team has instant access to site info.
What You Bring to the Team
- CAD Proficiency: Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Rhino, or similar) is required. You must be able to turn field notes into clean digital layouts.
- The "No Assumptions" Mindset: You measure every unit individually. You understand that "identical" decks are rarely identical in the field.
- Technical Literacy: Comfortable using tablets and mobile measuring apps in a construction environment.
- Communication: Ability to coordinate with contractors and owners to gather site photos and determine installation methods (lifts, ladders, etc.).
- Reliability: You are proactive about equipment maintenance—ensuring tools and tablets are charged and calibrated for daily mobilization.
Requirements
- Experience in construction, architecture, or field engineering.
- Proven ability to read and interpret site plans/blueprints.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Strong math skills (specifically geometry/trigonometry for stair calculations).
