Position Summary
The Indiana Learns Highly Qualified Tutor provides targeted, high-impact academic tutoring to eligible students in alignment with the Indiana Learns grant program. This role supports student growth through evidence-based instructional strategies, individualized learning plans, and close collaboration with teachers and families. The tutor ensures a supportive, engaging environment that fosters academic achievement and confidence.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide individualized or small-group tutoring in literacy and/or mathematics for up to four (4) students qualifying under Indiana Learns program guidelines. Tutoring will take place in a small-group setting with the students for a period of one (1) hour each week either before school or after school at Jennings County Middle School. Tutoring sessions may be scheduled weekly up through April 10, 2026.
- Implement research-based instructional practices consistent with Indiana Academic Standards and district curriculum.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators to determine instructional targets, monitor progress, and adjust strategies as needed.
- Develop and maintain student learning plans, session notes, and progress monitoring documentation as required by Indiana Learns.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and participation.
- Utilize digital platforms, assessments, and tools required by Jennings County School Corporation and the Indiana Learns program.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA and district policy.
- Ensure tutoring sessions are delivered during approved hours at Jennings County Middle School.
- Participate in required training, professional development, and program meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field OR current Indiana teaching license.
- Meets Indiana Learns “Highly Qualified Tutor” criteria.
- Demonstrated knowledge of instructional strategies and academic intervention methods.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
- Valid Indiana teaching license (K–6, Elementary Education, Special Education, or Secondary Math/ELA).
- Experience providing academic interventions or structured tutoring.
- Familiarity with Jennings County School Corporation curriculum and assessment tools.
- Work is performed within school buildings.
- Flexible scheduling may include before school or after school.
- Position is grant-funded; continuation depends on funding availability and program requirements.
- Ability to sit, stand, and work with students for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally.

- Tutors will be paid $65 per hour, per student, up to $1,000 total per student. (Normal tax deductions will apply.)
- Part-time, non-benefited position unless otherwise specified.
- Performance evaluated by supervising administrators per JCSC guidelines.
