Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented accounting professional to join our family-owned business as an Accountant Assistant / Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant. This role is ideal for someone who values accuracy, professionalism, confidentiality, and teamwork while supporting the daily financial operations of a growing company.
The ideal candidate will be organized, trustworthy, and capable of handling multiple accounting responsibilities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong communication with leadership, clients, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger entries
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and vendor statements
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting
- Prepare invoices, deposits, and expense reports
- Support payroll processing and maintain payroll records
- Assist with budgeting and financial tracking
- Organize and maintain accounting files and documentation
- Help prepare information for CPA review, audits, and tax filings
- Monitor cash flow and report discrepancies or concerns
- Communicate professionally with vendors, clients, and internal staff
- Perform administrative and accounting support duties as needed
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Minimum 1–3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, or similar platform
- Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a family-oriented environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience in small business or medium business accounting
- Familiarity with payroll processing and sales tax reporting
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic
