Jenkins & Wheatley Family Law is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our growing team in Louisville, Kentucky.

 

Minimum Starting Salary: $75,000.00 with higher pay based on experience and credentials

Position Summary

This is a full-time, on-site position for an attorney who is passionate about advocating for clients during some of the most important moments of their lives. The successful candidate will manage a diverse family law caseload while working closely with experienced attorneys and support staff. This role offers substantial courtroom exposure, client interaction, mentoring and opportunities for professional growth.


Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload involving divorce, child custody, child support, adoption, paternity, guardianship, and other family law matters
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, settlement agreements, parenting plans, wills, trusts, and other legal documents
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda
  • Represent clients at hearings, mediations, depositions, and court proceedings
  • Meet with clients to provide practical legal advice and develop case strategies
  • Negotiate settlements and resolve disputes through mediation and other alternative dispute resolution methods
  • Participate in client intake and maintain regular communication throughout each case
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with deadlines and court rules


Qualifications

Required

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in Kentucky (and in good standing), or those who have taken the July 2026 Bar Exam
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, writing, and drafting skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities with exceptional attention to detail
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and client relationship skills
  • Ability to negotiate effectively and advocate confidently for clients
  • Commitment to professionalism, ethics, and compassionate client service
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an on-site team environment

Preferred

  • Prior experience or clerkship in family law, mediation, or related practice areas
  • Courtroom and/or mediation experience
