Long-Term Substitute Position for School Psychologist at Jenkins Elementary School (anticipated 8/31/26 to 12/1/26)

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education

POSITION OVERVIEW:
School Psychologists help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. They collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school and the community for all students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works closely and consults with the following: building principal, Special Education Director, parents, school nurse, special education team, general education teachers, other school psychologists, school adjustment counselors, school counselors, METCO staff, crisis team members, and data team members.
• Provides goal-based individual, group, and crisis counseling to students, with priority given to students with IEPS.
• Coordinates and schedules and completes all psycho-educational assessments and evaluations as outlined in the following 3 bullets;
• Individual psycho-educational assessments to include, but not limited to, standardized cognitive assessments, ratings scales, and other psycho-educational assessments
• Attend team meetings and present reports and recommendations
• When appropriate, conduct classroom observations, functional behavioral assessments, and develop behavior intervention plans
• Chair the Support Team at the elementary school level
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
• Conduct home assessments
• Assist with home visits

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (C.A.G.S.), Ed.S. or other similarity post-graduate degree in School Psychologist or Doctorate in related field
• Massachusetts Educator’s License (School Psychology, all levels)
• Knowledge of Special Education and the requirements of state regulations and IDEA
• Personal and professional characteristics necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position
• Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment.

TERMS: This is a Long Term Substitute, 1.0 FTE position, $125 per day, approximate 60 day assignment.
