Employee: Quality Assurance SupervisorFLSA Status: Non-ExemptReports to: Quality ManagerTravel: 0%Job Purpose:The Quality Assurance Supervisor supports the Quality Manager in maintaining and improving the AS9100-compliant Quality Management System (QMS) for JEM Engineering. This role oversees day-to-day quality operations, supervises inspection activities, administers corrective action systems, manages supplier quality controls, and ensures regulatory and customer compliance. The position combines hands-on quality execution with quality systems oversight and internal leadership.Education & Experience:· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field preferred.· 3–7 years experience in a manufacturing quality environment.· Experience in AS9100 or ISO 9001 environment required.· Experience in aerospace, defense, or RF manufacturing preferred.Technical Skills:· Working knowledge of AS9100 requirements.· Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspection.· Experience with MRB, CAR, SCAR systems.· Understanding of calibration systems and measurement traceability.· Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.· Experience with ERP/QMS systems and structured document control.· Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google WorkspaceCompetencies:· Strong attention to detail.· Ability to supervise and mentor inspection staff.· Organized, process-driven mindset.· Effective written and verbal communication skills.· Ability to manage multiple compliance priorities simultaneously.Key Responsibilities:1. Nonconformance & Corrective Action Management· Create, process, and maintain Nonconforming Product (NCP) records.· Coordinate MRB activities and ensure proper disposition documentation.· Process vendor returns and track resolution status.· Issue and manage internal CARs and supplier SCARs.· Verify corrective action effectiveness.· Maintain CAR/NCP log accuracy and trend analysis support.· Support root cause investigations using structured methods (5-Why, Fishbone, etc.). 2. Inspection & Quality Operations Oversight· Supervise and provide direction to Quality Inspector(s).· Serve as backup Inspector for receiving, in-process, and final inspections.· Ensure inspection records meet AS9100 and customer requirements.· Maintain inspection forms, checklists, and templates.· Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities per AS9102 where required.· Assist in defining inspection points and acceptance criteria. 3. Supplier Quality & Vendor Management· Manage vendor approval and re-approval processes.· Maintain Approved Vendor List (AVL).· Review and verify Certificates of Conformance (CoC), material certs, and test reports.· Ensure supplier documentation meets drawing and PO requirements.· Monitor supplier performance metrics and assist in supplier evaluations.· Coordinate supplier corrective actions (SCAR follow-up and closure).· Support risk-based supplier classification.4. Calibration & Equipment Control· Manage internal calibration program.· Perform in-house calibrations where authorized.· Schedule and coordinate outsourced calibrations.· Maintain calibration records and status tracking.· Ensure traceability to NIST or equivalent standards.· Remove out-of-calibration equipment from service and initiate impact assessments. 5. Quality System Administration· Assist Quality Manager in maintaining AS9100 compliance.· Support QMS document updates and revisions.· Manage controlled document releases and change control.· Maintain document control system (procedures, forms, work instructions).· Support QMS-to-AS9100 clause mapping maintenance.· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives. 6. Internal & External Audit Support· Assist with internal audit planning and execution.· Participate as auditor or audit support as assigned.· Support corrective action from audit findings.· Assist during certification body and customer audits.· Support Management Review preparation and data compilation.7. Safety, Compliance & Facility Oversight· Conduct and document safety team meetings.· Perform periodic building walk-throughs and safety inspections.· Conduct quarterly FOD (Foreign Object Debris) inspections.· Conduct quarterly consumables review (shelf-life control, storage compliance).· Monitor ESD controls where applicable.· Support OSHA and facility compliance initiatives. 8. RMA & Customer Quality Interface· Create and process customer RMAs.· Coordinate investigation and disposition of returned product.· Support customer communications regarding quality issues.· Maintain RMA records and trend analysis.9. Quality Department Administration· Prepare purchase requisitions for quality department needs.· Track quality-related expenditures (calibration, inspection supplies, etc.).· Maintain quality logs and performance dashboards.· Assist with data collection for KPIs and quality metrics.· Assist with contract review, as needed. 10. Continuous Improvement & Risk Management· Support risk identification and mitigation tracking.· Assist in maintaining risk assessment matrices.· Monitor recurring quality trends and propose preventive actions.· Support process improvement initiatives across departments.· Assist in facilitation and implementation of annual required training courses. Communicates clearly and professionally with internal teams, suppliers, customers, and auditors. Produces accurate and complete written documentation.4. Maintains constructive working relationships and addresses quality concerns in a direct and solution-focused manner.5. Continuous Improvement & System StewardshipMaintains integrity of quality records and tracking systems. Supports audits and Management Review with accurate data.
