We are seeking a Electrical technician level I to join a major manufacturing company in Milwaukee for a long term contract.
Pay: $20-24/HR
Description:
You will work directly hands-on in an electrical test lab, building and configuring MCC and switchgear test samples. You will implement UL and IEC compliance testing in high-current environments. You will strictly observe electrical safety and LOTO requirements while doing so. The role includes precise documentation of test setups and results, close collaboration with development and high current lab engineers, and maintaining a 5S driven, safe, and organized lab environment to support reliable test execution.
Your Responsibilities:
• Build and configure Motor Control Centers (MCCs) and switchgear test samples according to engineering drawings and specifications
• Assemble electrical and mechanical components to support standardized and custom test configurations
• Prepare test setups for high current, high power electrical testing
• Conduct electrical tests following applicable standards, including:
o UL 845
o UL 891
o IEC 61439 1
o IEC 61439 2
• Complete common electrical tests such as:
o Short circuit testing
o Arc flash testing
o Temperature rise testing
o Dielectric (hi pot) testing
• Support safe operation of equipment in high current laboratory environments
• Document test procedures, setups, results, and observations
• Capture test data, anomalies, and deviations in formal test records
• Support traceability and compliance documentation requirements
• Follow all electrical safety, LOTO, and laboratory safety procedures
• Maintain a clean, organized, and audit ready workspace
• Apply 5S principles to lab organization and test areas
• Support a culture of safety in high energy test environments
• Work with development engineers to support design verification activities
• Partner with high current lab engineers during complex or hazardous testing
• Provide hands on technical support during failure investigation and root cause analysis
• Communicate test status, issues, and findings
Skills: The Essentials - You Will Have:
• Hands on experience with:
o Electrical and mechanical assembly
o Power and control wiring
o Test instrumentation and lab equipment
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
• Mechanical aptitude and hands on troubleshooting skills
• Demonstrated understanding of:
o Electrical safety practices
o Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
o Safe work practices for high energy systems
• Familiarity with Six Sigma concepts and 5S principles
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
• Experience testing MCCs, switchgear, or industrial power products
• Familiarity with UL and IEC compliance testing
