What are the responsibilities and job description for the Neurology Medical Assistant position at Jeffrey L Horstmyer MD PA?
Busy neurology practice is looking for a professional individual with a bachelor’s degree who is pleasant, courteous and comfortable multi-tasking to handle medical assistant duties. Must be bilingual in English and Spanish. Previous medical office experience a plus but will happily train the right candidate.

BASIC DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Greeting patients and their family/ companions and rooming them.
- Taking medical history, vitals, and performing specific assessments for patients.
- Handling medication refill requests, insurance prior authorizations, plans of care, and general clinical paperwork.
- Managing labs, imaging, and insurance portals (CoverMyMeds, Surescript, Availity, Evicore), ensuring all patient results are in the EMR before appointments.
- Receiving and returning patient calls, assist with scheduling, patient updates, and maintaining patient records.
- Being able to translate medical terminology from English to Spanish.
- Maintaining Exam Rooms neat & clean, ready for the next patient.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidate must be FULLY BILINGUAL, RELIABLE, ON TIME, AND MAKE A LONG-TERM COMMITMENT TO THE PRACTICE.
