Farmer & Landscaper

This job is perfect for those with a farming and/or gardening background and those who enjoy working outdoors in varying weather. All of the duties will include training and support to set up the candidate for success. Due to the nature of this position and to protect our employees and JAM equipment & property, we have a drug-free work policy, including medical marijuana.
Landscaping Duties:
- Weed whacking & trimming around fence lines, buildings, lamp posts, brick walkways, etc.
- Push mowing in small spaces around obstacles.
- Backpack blowing leaves and debris from roadways, patio, etc. before events
- Leaf pick-up/removal to compost pile in the fall and as needed
- Mechanical skills and/or beekeeping a bonus but not required
- Occasional hardscape upkeep like sanding/staining outdoor benches, etc.
- Optional winter hours available for snow removal and salting around buildings.
Farm Duties (include working alone and in rotation with a farm team):
- Rotation feeding livestock (including chickens, geese, ducks, and alpacas) grain, fresh hay, and water in the morning & evenings.
- Rotation mucking stalls/coops.
- Weeding, cultivating, mulching, planting, staking, harvesting, tilling, raking, hoeing, etc. around the two small farm fields and orchard plus general maintenance around buildings as instructed.
- Rotation Alpaca walking with another farmer at events.
- Emptying 5-gallon buckets and 64-gallon rolling bins of food scraps into compost pile once a week.
Schedule & Pay:
- Part-Time, Seasonal
- Flexible schedule with weekends and holidays required as needed.
- 5 - 8 hours per shifts, totaling 30 – 35 hours per week. Any overtime must be pre-approved.
- $17.50/hr
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license and your own vehicle to drive to our venue located at 525 Waterloo Rd, Stanhope, NJ 07874.
- Experience with lawn equipment and gardening preferred, but we will train the right candidate.
- Required use and training of proper safety equipment required and provided.
- Experience with livestock care including chickens, geese, ducks, alpacas preferred, but we will train the right candidate.
- Attention to detail and respect for property.
- Reliability and dependability are required. Animals must be cared for, as well as our farm.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with time-management skills.
- Ability to work alone with instructions and with a team to achieve company goals.
- Communicate clearly with the team about job status and any issues.
- Be able to lift, push, pull and/or move 50 - 80 pounds.
