Consulting Opportunity – Controller-Level Consultant
Location: Northern Indiana Region (Hybrid – Onsite 3 Days/Week)
Pay Rate: $80 /hour W2 (Negotiable Based on Experience - let's talk!)
Jefferson Wells is seeking an experienced Controller-level Consultant for a project-based engagement with one of our clients in the Northern Indiana area. This is a hybrid role, requiring onsite presence three days per week (flexible scheduling). Construction industry experience is mandatory.
Project Overview
The consultant will lead an assessment of current accounting processes, identify root causes of discrepancies, and provide actionable recommendations for improvement. In addition to process evaluation, this role requires hands-on involvement in month-end close, billing, and related accounting activities.

Construction industry experience is mandatory. The ideal candidate must understand costing for construction projects and be able to dive into accounting concepts related to construction project billings, including Costing WIP (Work in Progress).

Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and assess existing financial processes and controls
- Investigate discrepancies and determine underlying causes
- Develop and present recommendations for process improvements
- Support operational accounting tasks, including month-end close and billing
- Collaborate with internal teams to implement best practices
- Proven experience at the Controller level or equivalent
- Strong background in construction accounting, including Costing WIP
- Expertise in process improvement and financial analysis
- Hands-on experience with month-end close and billing
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with stakeholders
- $80 /hour W2 (rate negotiable based on experience)
- Flexible schedule for onsite days
