Job Title: 8th Grade Teacher
Position Summary
The 8th Grade Teacher is responsible for providing rigorous, standards-based instruction to prepare students for a successful transition to high school. This role focuses on supporting students’ academic growth, critical thinking skills, and social-emotional development while maintaining a structured and engaging classroom environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction in assigned subject area(s) (e.g., Math, English Language Arts, Science, or Social Studies).
- Prepare students for high school readiness through challenging coursework and skill development.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, and English Learners.
- Use data and assessments to monitor student progress and guide instructional decisions.
- Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, counselors, and support staff to address student needs.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school improvement initiatives.
- Implement district curriculum, policies, and procedures with fidelity.
- Support school activities, including events that promote student engagement and transition to high school.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid Indiana teaching license appropriate for middle school (grades 5–9 or subject-specific licensure).
- Strong knowledge of content area and adolescent development.
- Effective classroom management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior middle school teaching experience, particularly at the 8th grade level.
- Experience preparing students for high school readiness and state assessments.
- Familiarity with instructional technology and data systems.
Working Conditions
