Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive English curricula aligned with educational standards, including AP style and Chicago Manual of Style guidelines.
- Design engaging lesson plans that incorporate instructional design principles, differentiated instruction, and IT-integrated lessons to accommodate various learning styles.
- Facilitate active classroom management to create a respectful, inclusive environment conducive to learning for teenagers.
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing methods and provide timely feedback to support student progress.
- Mentor students in creative writing, literacy education, journalism, and social sciences, fostering their academic and personal development.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, research projects, and educational compliance initiatives to ensure high-quality instruction.
- Utilize library services and research tools to enhance lesson content and promote independent learning among students.
- Implement behavior management strategies that support social-emotional learning and positive classroom dynamics.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to higher education teaching techniques, special education practices, or other relevant pedagogies.
- Provide academic advising and tutoring tailored to individual student needs while maintaining organizational skills for lesson planning and instructional delivery.
Experience
- Proven classroom experience teaching middle school students with a focus on English language arts or related subjects.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment strategies aligned with educational regulations.
- Experience working with diverse learners, including students with special education needs or different learning styles.
- Strong background in teaching literacy education, or journalism at the middle school level is highly desirable.
- Prior experience utilizing learning technology platforms for remote or blended instruction is preferred.
- High school teaching experience combined with private school background or Montessori training is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with organizational abilities to manage lesson planning, standardized testing preparation, and instructional documentation effectively.
