What You Should Know About the Radiology Tech Extern:

• This is typically an as needed position or PDN. Flexibility with school clinical hours: 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday- Friday and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekend and holiday.
• This position is based within Jefferson Regional Radiology Department 

Job Summary:

Under the direction of a Registered Radiologic Technologist, Rad Tech Externs are responsible for performing a variety of diagnostic radiographs and related procedures by utilizing the appropriate equipment to perform high quality imaging. This position is also responsible for following established standards and procedures, and reviewing images to determining necessary adjustment for optimum results.

 Radiology Tech Extern Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent required. 

• Enrolled in an AMA approved Radiologic Technologist Program with successful passing of Junior Comprehensive Final and in good standing. 
• BLS/CPR required upon hire or obtain within 30 days of hire. 
• This is a safety sensitive position.*
• Minimum Requirements
  1. Must be knowledgeable in, medical terminology, and possess generalized skills in medical imaging, general and other special procedures that are performed within the department. 
  2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  3. Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  4. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality images
  5. Ability to work and collaborate with a team
  6. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new radiology technology and techniques.
• Preferred Requirements
  1. Ability to think critically and troubleshoot basic equipment issues under the guidance of a licensed technologist preferred.
  2. Familiarity with electronic medical records systems and other hospital software a plus.
  3. Ability to document patient information accurately and efficiently preferred.
