What You Should Know About the Clinical Documentation Specialist: MUST WORK ONSITE!
- Typical Hours: Monday- Friday from 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
- This position is based within Jefferson Regional Health Information Management
Job Summary:
The Clinical Documentation Specialist is responsible for ensuring the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation through concurrent interaction with physician, nursing staff, other patient caregivers, and Health Information coding staff to support the level of service rendered to all patients. This role is also responsible for educating all members of the patient care team on an ongoing basis.
Clinical Documentation Specialist Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical Diploma in Nursing
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or other related preferred
- Graduate for an accredited school of nursing
- Current Arkansas Registered Nurse Licensure required
- Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a hospital setting
- Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Requires excellent observation skills, analytical thinking, problem solving, plus good verbal and written communication
- Interpersonal skills: Professional, team player, able to communicate well with others on all levels
- Frequent contact with other personnel within and outside the hospital
- Proactive
- Flexible
- Preferred Requirements:
- Utilization review, case management, or coding experience a plus
- 5 years or more clinical experience in a hospital setting
