What are the responsibilities and job description for the SHIPPING & RECEIVING STOCK CLERK (2350) position at Jefferson Parish?
EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO SUPPLEMENT THE EXISTING EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING.
This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in this Department as they occur.The position consists of moderate clerical and data entry work related to the receipt, storage and issuance of a wide variety of materials in a warehouse operation. Requires maintaining accurate records and the use of computer programs. Maintaining the purchase order filing system and order supplies when needed. Responsible for posting to inventory records of materials, supplies and shipments received, stored and issued. Entails light to somewhat heavy manual labor inside as well as outdoors. The operation of material handling equipment, including a forklift, is required. This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Some positions require driving of a Parish vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record will be given preference.
NOTE: Selective certification of eligibles with a valid Louisiana driver's license and acceptable driving record will be used in filling the current Engineering Department vacancy.Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.

The written test is designed to evaluate basic clerical skills including arithmetic, proofreading, checking, filing, and knowledge of common office procedures. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of the written examination.
