EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF JUVENILE SERVICES AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.Under general direction, the purpose of this position is to provide investigative services for the court and rehabilitative services to juveniles and their families while enforcing probationary conditions. Person hired for this position is given an oath of office and has the power to arrest juveniles. Employees in this classification perform highly technical, legal and social work. Position is responsible for gathering and reviewing information, preparing presentations, and working with juveniles and their parents to facilitate rehabilitation. Appears in court, provides testimony/recommendations relative to contempt, reviews, dispositions, and revocation. Supervises juveniles on probation, monitors behaviors and activities and ensures court order compliance. Performs related duties as required. May work either on East or West bank, be subject to inter-division assignment transfer, and may be required to work evenings and weekends. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.Possession of at least a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Social Welfare, Criminal Justice or other related behavioral science;
Proof of education is required in the form of college transcript.
NOTE: Any conviction listed in the Louisiana Child Protection Act (Louisiana R.S. 15:587.1) is considered disqualifying, unless written proof of pardon is submitted in time for consideration with the application.
