EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT - GIS.
This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in various Department as they occur.The purpose of this position is to assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of a Geographic Information System (GIS) and related data. This position prepares maps, charts, and drawings from aerial maps and other survey data; identifies, scales and orients geodetic points, elevations, and other topographic features and cartographic detail. Maintains complex GIS layers using remote sensing, computer-aided design and other cartography sources. Digitizes hardcopy maps, plans, and overlays from existing or new information, documents, drawing, plans, charts, or other data sources. Employee assist higher level GIS Analysts in the production of large digitizing projects. Provides information to the public, contractors, and consultants relative to engineering business and technical matters. Updates existing GIS system graphic, mapping, and database information. This position utilizes automated design software and various drafting instruments in the updating and modification of utility plans, i.e., CAD, plotters, calculators, scales, lettering sets. Performs related duties as required.
Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)

Meets one of the following three options:
I. Possession of an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Geographic Information Science (GIS) or a related field with at least fifteen (15) credit hours focusing on GIS.
OR
II. Successful completion of at least six (6) credit hours of coursework focusing on GIS at an accredited college or university; plus, sufficient paid work experience involving use of ESRI-based GIS software.OR
III. Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent certificate; plus, significant paid work experience involving use of ESRI-based GIS software.Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)
The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment.
