EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE LIBRARY DEPARTMENT.This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in various Departments as they occur.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the purpose of this position is to perform routine to moderately complex accounting work requiring keeping and maintaining general accounting, budgetary accounting, and other fiscal records at the sub-professional level. Work involves examination and verification of a variety of accounting documents and financial computations, the posting of accounts, and the preparation of routine to more complex accounting statements and financial reconciliations, and similar duties for an assigned work unit. Maintains and updates assigned department logs, records, lists and accounts as applicable to assigned work units, including routine cash journals. Duties may vary depending on assigned Department.For the current vacancy in the Library Department, this position is responsible for accurately preparing deposits, managing a petty cash can, inputting requisitions for purchases as requested by Department heads and pre-approved by Business Manager. Verifying and processing invoices, credit invoices, monthly payments, utility billing, and reimbursement refunds for the department. Posting entries and process receipts for accounts payable for purchases on the Financial Management System (FMS). Working with computer systems using various software such as Word, Excel to design, implement, and maintain database for purchasing, accounts payable and vendor files, etc. This position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)A written test, weighted 100%, will be administered. The test is designed to evaluate knowledge of basic bookkeeping practices and modern office procedures, plus mathematical skills necessary to maintain records and make computations. Qualified applicants will be notified by mail of the date, time and place of the written examination.
