What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood/Special Education Coach position at Jefferson Parish Schools?
Position Description:
The Early Childhood/Special Education Coach ensures preschool students receive high-quality instruction and developmentally appropriate classroom support. The Early Childhood/Special Education coach supports the development and improvement for preschool teachers throughout the district via observations, model lessons, feedback conversations, data analysis, professional developmental training and more. The Early Childhood/ Special Education coach serves as the preschool expert and provides support on curriculum, high-quality interactions and classroom supports.
Reports To: The Director of Pre-K
Scope of Responsibility:
? Collaborate and provide support to teachers, master teachers, school based administration and related service providers in assessing needs, planning, developing and reviewing preschool programs and interventions when needed for general and special education students.
? Participate in IEP meetings when needed
? Conduct on-site visits to access compliance of instructional practices
? Conduct staff development opportunities for all Early Childhood related employees which include but are not limited to administrators, teachers, etc.
? Collaborate often with the Director of Pre-K and principals to ensure program guidelines are being met
? Assists Director of Pre-K with completion of all reports including but not limited to, reports to the LDOE, Student Support, TS GOLD/OSEP, etc.
? Organize and plan for Pre-K registration under the Director of Pre-K for all Early Childhood
programs
? Conduct CLASS observations
? Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Pre-K
Skills and Qualifications:

? An earned Bachelor’s Degree in education from an accredited college or university
? Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience
? Successful and documentable experience that impacted student achievement

consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined thinking
? Ability to organize and motivate people
? Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
? Integrity, initiative, and good moral character

? Possess desirable attributes of personality, enthusiasm, and interpersonal skills
? Proven track record of working with diverse individuals at all levels to drive decision making results
? Ability to be visionary and strategic is essential.
Desirable Qualifications:
? Master’s or advanced degree in education preferred.
Physical Involvement:
Sitting is required most of each work day. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 10 pounds is sometimes required. Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations, and meeting sites. Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations, including locations not on the ground
floor.
