JeffCare is a Federally Qualified Health Center offering primary care and behavioral health from two sites in Metairie and Marrero. JeffCare is a program of Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority. We are looking to fill this position in our Marrero Health Center.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and direct all individuals visiting the health center
  • Coordinate sign-in paperwork
  • Collect and explain service fees and insurance benefits
  • Collect, enter, and update demographic information and other necessary data
  • Collects co-pays/ insurance deductibles
  • Schedule appointments and complete reminder calls
  • Retrieve, file, maintain, and store charts
  • Receive, log, and distribute requests for medical records
  • Answer and route telephone calls in a welcoming and efficient manner
  • Record and distribute phone messages
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail and packages

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least a high school diploma or GED
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Respectful and cooperative work style
  • One or more years of experience in documenting information in an electronic health record and verifying insurance benefits
  • One or more years of experience scheduling appointments, collecting, and recording demographic information
  • One or more years of experience working in primary care or behavioral health provider’s office is a plus
  • Preferred: Experience with working with individuals with Mental Health diagnoses and/or behavioral health crises
