What Your Job Will Be Like
Leads the design, development, and deployment of advanced data acquisition (DAQ) and real-time streaming data processing systems for nuclear physics experiments at Jefferson Lab. Drives architecture and technical strategy for large-scale, high-throughput, distributed data pipelines, enabling cross-facility integration and sustained performance at extreme data rates. Provides technical leadership across projects, guiding system design, optimization, and deployment while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Provides technical leadership across projects, guiding system design, optimization, and deployment while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
In This Job You Will
- Work with domain experts in Physics, Data Science, and Computer Science to develop highly efficient scientific software.
- Maintain and document software developed with EPSCI participation.
- Support Scientists using EPSCI software with new feature support, bug fixes and training.
- Work within a group, but complete tasks independently and report on results.
- Develop and support Data Acquisition Software including support of the domain scientists using it.
- Required: No Relevant Experience
- Preferred: 2 or more years Experience with data acquisition (DAQ) systems and real-time streaming architectures
- Preferred: 2 or more years Experience with distributed systems, high-performance computing, and large-scale data pipelines
- Required: Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or Related Field
- Accomplishments in developing computational infrastructure and applications that are in production use for experimental offline computing.
- The ability to work collaboratively on some projects and independently on others.
- Knowledge of at least one programming language and one scripting language.
- Understanding of software development methodologies.
- The ability to support applications through the full life cycle.
- Knowledge of relevant technologies or techniques such as data visualization, machine learning and distributed computing. Experimental reconstruction code development.
- Knowledge of common community tools such as Geant4.
- Ability to engage in the 12 GeV scientific program or in the EIC development.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
