Jefferson Healthcare Center is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Certified Medical Records Technician to join our administrative team. We are a skilled nursing facility with a daily census of 175–185 residents, providing short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, memory care, custodial care, and hospice services.
The Medical Records Technician plays a vital role in maintaining accurate, complete, and confidential resident medical records while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain resident medical records in accordance with federal, state, and facility regulations.
- Ensure medical records are complete, accurate, and properly filed in the electronic medical record system.
- Process admissions, discharges, transfers, and record requests.
- Monitor physician orders and required documentation for completeness.
- Assist with chart audits and prepare records for surveys and regulatory reviews.
- Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Collaborate with nursing, therapy, social services, and other departments to ensure timely documentation.
- Manage record retention and destruction according to regulatory guidelines.
Shift
Monday to Friday 8AM to 430PM
Wage
$16 hr
Qualifications:
- Certified Medical Records Technician (CMRT) or equivalent medical records certification preferred.
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA, and healthcare documentation requirements.
- Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
