Job Details

Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, part of Jefferson Health, is seeking a board-certified, experienced and practicing academic Urogynecologist Physician to join the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive, patient-centered urogynecologic care. Clinical duties involve the evaluation and management of a wide spectrum of pelvic floor disorders. This includes diagnosing and treating urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, voiding dysfunction, overactive bladder, mesh complications, and other complex conditions.

Physicians are expected to perform routine and advanced in-office diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including urodynamics and cystoscopy.

Furthermore, the role requires providing expert operative management across the full scope of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, while collaborating with colleagues across specialties to provide integrated care plans for patients. Due to this, the department strongly prefers experienced, practicing candidates.

Academic and Educational Leadership

As a faculty member at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, the physician will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of medical professionals. Responsibilities encompass actively educating and mentoring medical students and residents within our busy OB/GYN residency program, which currently trains six residents per year.

Educational duties include providing hands-on clinical instruction in ambulatory care settings, surgical suites, and during inpatient consultations. Faculty members are also expected to participate in curriculum development, which involves didactic teaching, leading case conferences, and designing simulation or skills education modules to enhance trainee competency.

Research, Scholarship, and Innovation

We strongly encourage and support academic productivity that leads to promotion within our academic system. Faculty members have ample opportunities to engage in clinical research, including clinical trials, outcomes research, and quality improvement initiatives.

Scholarly output is highly valued, with expectations for writing in peer-reviewed journals, presenting at international, national, and regional conferences, and pursuing other forms of scholarly work. Candidates with a strong interest in program development, healthcare innovation in pelvic floor care, and collaborative interdisciplinary research are highly encouraged to apply and will find a supportive environment for their initiatives.

Qualifications And Requirements

To be considered for this exceptional opportunity, candidates must meet specific educational and professional criteria, as outlined below:

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Successful completion of an accredited OB/GYN residency program, followed by fellowship training in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS).
  • Board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and URPS.
  • Eligible for, or currently holding, an unrestricted medical license in the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
  • A demonstrated passion for academic medicine, encompassing excellence in teaching, mentorship, scholarly activity, and collaborative clinical care.
