Job Description
A Self-Contained Paraprofessional works under the supervision of the special education teacher to support students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom. The paraprofessional assists with implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), providing academic, behavioral, and functional support, and helping students develop independence.
Essential Duties
- Assist the teacher in implementing IEP accommodations, modifications, and goals.
- Provide one-on-one and small-group instructional support to students.
- Assist students with daily living skills, personal care, feeding, toileting, or mobility when required.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, and field trips.
- Prepare instructional materials and maintain classroom organization.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or campus administrator.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to work with students with diverse disabilities.
