Job Overview
Under the direction of the General Manager and Chief Plant Operator, performs a variety of duties in the operation of the district’s surface water and/or wastewater treatment plant including reports and chemical tests. Responsibilities include the installation, repair and preventive maintenance of the district water/wastewater mains and services. Operate the District’s water and/or wastewater plant as needed. Read water meters monthly. Repairs water and sewer leaks, installs taps, documents lift stations daily.
Primary Responsibilities:
Organize and handle field projects in a timely manner and professional setting.
Coordinating and organizing the System Operators for productivity and efficiency.
Coordinate yearly inventory audits.
Organize the timely completion of line locates/line locate requests.
Operate and maintain a variety of equipment utilized in the maintenance and repair of District water/wastewater lines and related systems, including dump trucks, sewer machine, backhoe, and track hoes, including excavation and line repairs and tap installations.
Read water meters monthly (approximately 450)
Secondary Duties:
- Employee involved in the operation and maintenance of the water and/or wastewater treatment plant, and related customer complaints involving the plants.
- Monitors the quality of raw and finished water. Assists in the installation, repair and maintenance of pumps, instrumentation, and other equipment.
- Maintains laboratory test equipment in proper working order.
- Assists in the testing and sampling requirements of the TCEQ.
Qualifications
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
- Read, comprehend, and interpret O & M manuals, process, electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings.
- Deal with the public and general contactors and suppliers courteously and tactfully.
- Perform mathematical computations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fraction and percentage calculations in English and metric.
- Must be able to be on 24/7 callout on a four-week rotation.
- Valid state issued driver's license
- Diploma or equivalent from high school
- Must have or obtain a D Water and a D Sewer license within 12 months. Must have or obtain a C Wastewater Treatment & C Surface Water Treatment license within 3 years.
Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
