Emergency Communications Officer -- 911 Emergency Dispatcher
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking qualified applicants for an Emergency Communications Officer.
Emergency Communication Officers start at $19.90 per hour (DOE) plus benefits. Applicants must submit a current law enforcement application with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office by 5:00PM no later than June 11, 2024.

Dispatch serves as the primary point of phone and radio contact for citizens requiring emergency law, fire, medical services and/or other assistance.
Duties include but are not limited to answering incoming emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching responders, giving lifesaving instructions over the phone, operating computers and 2-way radios.
Applicants must be a high school graduate or equivalent, able to work under stressful conditions, able to communicate effectively, must have good computer, typing (50 words per minute) and clerical skills and have experience working with the public. Familiarity with county geography is preferred.
Applicant must be at least age 18, a U.S. Citizen, and meet other requirements associated with qualifying to work in law enforcement.
Applicant must be available all days and shifts. The shifts are rotating and are made up of three -12 hour shifts and one - 4 hour shift per week.
Selection process consists of aptitude test, typing test, an oral board interview, completion of a thorough background investigation and polygraph exam. Jefferson County is a drug free workplace.
