POSITION: eSports Club Sponsor
RESPONSIBLE TO: Building Principal and Director of Responsive Education
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
EMPLOYMENT TERM: Temporary, part-time position. As needed - Extracurricular assignment/contract
SALARY: Stipend
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the Principal and Director of Responsive Education in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and JCBOE Evaluation Policy.
JOB SUMMARY:
The sponsor will be responsible for the following:
- Instructing students on the use of electronic/digital game design and game play.
- Coordinating after-school practice sessions with building administrator, students and families.
- Securing gaming equipment, keeping inventory, and maintaining the proper care of equipment.
- Seeking competition with other regional high school eSports programs
- Advertising and communicating the goals of the club, recruitment of new students and utilizing standards and curriculum from Coding, app and Game Design I and II courses.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The sponsor will be responsible for the following:
- Leadership and support in the area of responsibility.
- Establishing and implementing an improvement process for area of responsibility.
- Establishing good public and employee relations.
- Maintaining professional work habits.
- Supervise meetings
- Chaperone students at all activities performed by the organization
- Arrange for transportation for group activities
- Oversee the operation of and complete all necessary forms relating to activities, fund raisers, etc. in which the group participates
- Work with the Principal and Director of Responsive Education to ensure that high academic and social standards are achieved and maintained.
- Establishing and implementing an improvement process for area of responsibility:
- Establish guidelines for appropriate conduct.
- Establishing good public and employee relations in area of responsibility:
- Be accessible to students and parents.
- Maintaining professional work habits:
- Be punctual for all organizational activities
- Demonstrate professional attitude by responding to suggestions and constructive criticism in a positive manner.
- Work cooperatively with administration and school staff.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Maintain poise and self-control during contests and practice

Currently employed by Jefferson County Schools and at the school where the position resides. Satisfactory performance. Holds a current WV professional teacher certification. Knowledge of eSports preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others. Ability to foster and sustain students’ interests in the program. Ability to perform duties outside of the regular school day.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Most commonly, the work setting is indoors, typical environment of a high school setting, and outdoor settings for travel activities. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate (20-60 dB). Exceptions include gymnasiums as well as Expo facilities where the noise levels may be moderate to loud (60-90 dB).
