POSITION SUMMARY
This temporary student position is available within the Engineering department during the summer months to provide interns with training opportunities while assisting the district with necessary work. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include, but are not limited to:
Engineering:
Geographic Information System (GIS):
Must successfully complete a standard criminal background check. A valid Washington State driver’s license is required. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is generally performed in an office setting with extended periods of sitting. Fieldwork may involve driving long distances, working on various terrain and during various weather conditions. Individual may be exposed to hazards from obstacles associated with construction sites. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate personal computers and various equipment used in fieldwork. Occasional lifting and carrying cartons weighing up to thirty (30) pounds (non-essential). Frequent interaction with co-workers and customers is done via computer, telephone, and in person.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
Jefferson County PUD requires the candidate in this position to reside within Jefferson, Kitsap or Clallam County. The residency requirement must be met within six (6) months of hire date.

- Collaborate with Staking Engineers on designing new electric services.
- Perform research in the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and National Electric Code (NEC) for electric projects.
- Prepare work sketches and job packages for transformer replacements; pole replacements including pole loading and guying; and primary distribution cable replacement including conduit and vault design.
- Field check, gather and organize inventory and location data for system components, including pad mount equipment, primary distribution cable, poles, transformers, services and meters.
- Organize and optimize Engineering drawings, electronic files and other records.
- Other miscellaneous design tasks as assigned.
Geographic Information System (GIS):
- Assist with digitizing easements.
- Design web map applications.
- Research and verify missing assets on our maps.
- Test new data import procedures.
- Fill in missing information for past work orders in GIS.
- Assist in completing as-built water and electrical work orders
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma and current enrollment in college or technical school.
- Enrollment in an Electrical Engineering (power emphasis) program preferred.
- Ability to perform assigned tasks independently
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Candidates must live in Jefferson County PUD service territory
