JOB SUMMARY
Inspection Supervisor
The position involves performing technical and administrative work in the enforcement of building codes and ordinances. Work involves directing and coordinating inspectors in the enforcement of minimum building codes and safety standards; and participating in the administration and coordination of condemnation and demolition procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Inspection Supervision: Provide daily supervision of and guidance to Building Inspectors, conduct periodic performance reviews of Building Inspectors.
- Inspection Coordination: Ensure that daily inspections are properly assigned to the respective Building Inspectors and that inspections are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Building Code Inspections: Inspect construction sites for compliance with building codes, structural integrity, and safety standards.
- Permit and Documentation Review: Review and verify construction permit applications, plans and specifications.
- Field Reporting and Compliance: Complete inspection reports detailing findings, deficiencies, and corrective actions required.
- Contractor Communication: Communicate with contractors,designers and homeowners regarding inspection outcomes and required corrections.
- Safety and Compliance Monitoring: Ensure jobsite safety and enforce adherence to local, state and federal safety codes.
- Report Preperation: Prepare and submit reports documenting inpsections, code violations and follow-up actions.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other inspectors and designers to ensure unified code enforcement.
- Public Relations: Address inquiries and complaints from the public related to inspections and code enforcement.
- Professional Development: Maintain current certifications and attend relevent training to stay up-to-date on code changes.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations such as storm damage or unsafe structures.
